Dance evening DANCE EVENING GOCC Luxembourg, The Janiszewski Band and The Brotherhood of Traditional Singing invite you to a dance evening with The Grand Orchestra of Christmas Charity DATE: January 28th, 2024 (Friday)TIME: 7 p.m.PLACE: Mirador ADDRESS: 2, Montée de Clausen, 1343 Luxembourg, LuxembourgENTRY: Free – for charity donation Starting at 7pm with a short dance workshop, the dance evening will go on from 8pm to the rhythms of Polish traditional dances such as: mazurek, polka, polonaise, chochona, wiwat, flapok, pre-war tangos, foxtrots and many others. The fun and introductions will be led by the Janiszewski Band and the Brotherhood, and in the breaks we will also sing famous festive songs. Katarzyna and Krzysztof Janiszewski have been playing Polish traditional music for over 20 years. For years, the musicians accompanied a folk ensemble in Goleniów /Poland, co-founded the PoMore Tanz Orkiestra band playing music of the Polish and German parts of Pomerania, and since 2015 they have been leading a band in Luxembourg that plays for dancing and concerts together with the Brotherhood of Traditional Singing. They are musically active in the parish of the Polish Catholic Mission in Trier and organise concerts and events. They are the originators and organisers of the Lipiecka festival in Western Pomerania, which promotes the traditional music and culture of Pomerania. The band’s repertoire includes Polish dances like mazurkas, polkas and polonaises, but also Balkan, German and French dances. Composition: Katarzyna Janiszewska – violin, Krzysztof Janiszewski – accordion, Henryk Mazur – drums, Jan Sedlaček – double bass, Marcin Wierzbicki – trumpet. The Brotherhood of Traditional Singing is a men’s singing ensemble founded in Luxembourg in 2015 by Henryk Mazur, whose members come from different countries (Poland, Czech Republic, France, Scotland, Germany, Slovenia), practising single- and multi-voice traditional singing mainly Polish, but also having in their repertoire Corsican songs, Balkan songs and songs from other Slavic countries, both secular and ecclesiastical. The ensemble has performed at dance events in Vianden and Luxembourg, at concerts of the Music Club of the EU institutions, at the Kirchberg music festival, at Independence Day receptions at the EU Court of Justice, with Lenten songs and carols in churches in Trier and Luxembourg.
