GET TO KNOW US!

The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity is a public benefit organisation raising money to support Polish public health care by furnishing Polish hospitals with highly specialized medical equipment.

The Foundation has been officially established in 1993 by Jurek Owsiak. More information about the activities of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity in Poland can be found on the Foundation’s website or in the Guide to Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity.

The Grand Final is a one-day public charitable fundraiser, which traditionally takes place on the second Sunday of January. The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity “plays” across the world and collects money in support of Polish health care services that save lives of the sick, especially children, and to improve their health as well as to promote healthy living and preventive healthcare.

The permission to organise the first Collection Center of Grant Orchestra of Christmas Charity in Luxembourg, has been granted to “We play together” a.s.b.l. The association was founded by several people, many of whom have been very engaged for the benefit of Poland and Poles living in Luxembourg for years. The non-profit organisation has a status of the Grant Orchestra of Christmas Charity Hub in Luxembourg and is in continuous contact with the Foundation adhering to its standards of operation. The members of our association “We play together” a.s.b.l. as well as all Volunteers of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity work for free.

The 30. Grand Final of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity took place on January 29th 2022

It raised money to aid children’s eye diseases and disorders. The fundraiser aimed to buy medical devices for ophthalmology – a branch of medicine treating diseases and conditions of the eye. The foundation has extensive experience when it comes to treating and preventing retinopathy of prematurity, having established a national programme that helped to run tests of the sight of nearly 225 thousand preemies and save the eyesight of 10 600 children. In addition, we equipped 21specialized surgery centres with laser surgery devices, which allow doctors to perform operations saving the sight of tiny newborn babies, ensuring that they can learn, develop, and discover the world in full colour.

2022 fundraise focused on children’s ophthalmology in a broader sense – to support the work done by specialized 25 ophthalmology centres located in 17 cities across the country and clinics, where children are referred to for initial testing and diagnosis. The aim was also to help with clinics and hospitals equipment and create and prepare a highly specialized training centre for doctors and eye surgeons.
